Sendio’s feature set is 100% identical across hosted, appliance, and virtual appliance. You have the same access to lower level SMTP transaction logs in all three platforms, whereas in many competing solutions SMTP transaction logs are not available with their hosted platforms. Sendio makes it easy for you. Choose the platform that best fits your IT environment.
Yes, since Sendio utilizes standards based SMTP inbound/outbound email can always route through Sendio from any source. Sendio has many customers using Microsoft 365 and Google Apps across all three Sendio platforms. Sendio does require the valid users (i.e. email addresses, aliases, and distribution lists) for your organization to be present in our web interface. So, most of our customers who have moved to Microsoft 365 and Google Apps have kept an on-site LDAP directory server that Sendio can automatically query in order to add new users. If such a setup is not possible, Sendio does have a manual input method for IT Administrators to add new users. The latter method utilizes an open source LDAP client.
There is no charge for email aliases. Sendio also does not charge for Groups or Distribution Lists.
Users login to Sendio with their email address and the same password that they use to access their email account. Sendio utilizes an LDAP-based single sign-on where your Sendio platform instance handshakes with your local LDAP directory server for password authentication.
By default any email to invalid email addresses for your domain is rejected by Sendio in the SMTP session with the sender and the emails are never accepted by Sendio or your mail server. Sendio already knows the valid email addresses for your domain via a LDAP sync to your LDAP server. This feature greatly reduces the load on your mail server.
Yes the SAV auto-reply is a challenge that requires a simple reply from the sender in order to trigger automatic delivery of the sender’s original email message to the Sendio user’s Inbox. Challenge/Response is a general anti-spam industry term with many different vendor implementations. Sendio’s SAV auto-reply is very straight forward and easy. It is far from a “challenge” for a person that is not a spammer who is sending you email for the first time to reply to your Sendio SAV auto-reply.
In addition it is important to understand that it is possible to utilize the Sendio Email Community feature without sending SAV messages for one or more specific email addresses in your organization. In such as case all desired community members for a user (i.e. Contacts) can be added manually with simple mouse clicks in the web interface. In addition IT Administrators can also choose to turn off Contact auto-checking for specific email addresses and solely rely on Sendio’s other security layers to stop inbound spam, phishing, bulk email, etc.
It is actually quite easy. We promise.
First, the recipients for any outbound message that a user sends will be automatically added to that user’s email community (also called “Contacts”). Many new Sendio customers cut over outbound email 1-2 weeks prior to cutting over inbound email in order for the most common email recipients to be added to each user’s email community. In addition Administrators can add System-wide Contacts (domains or individual email addresses for your customers and suppliers) to Sendio prior to cutting over inbound traffic. Think of this as a global email community for your organization. Finally, Contacts can be easily imported into the Sendio web interface by users or Administrators from a comma delimited file (*.csv), vCard 2.1, or vCard 3.0.
If such a sender responds to an SAV and gets added to your community and continues to send you emails, you can add a “Drop” contact for his or her email address in your Sendio interface. All future emails from that sender will always be held within Sendio and you can access the email when you want to without clogging up your inbox – we call this our noise cancelling feature.
Yes, if desired Sendio can customize the SAV email for you. Your company name will already be presented in the SAV email, but if desired Sendio can customize the text of the email as well.
Rest assured that no email has been lost. We can’t deny that the Sendio SAV does get “lost” on rare occasions, either due to sender oversight or the myriad of low quality spam filters in the world. However, it is important to understand that Sendio has already accepted the sender’s entire message before the SAV is sent. Users have access to these messages in their Sendio “pending” queue (a web interface login per user) immediately for release to their Inbox if desired. All messages for which the SAV has never been responded to reside in a user’s pending queue for up to 28 days. A summary email of messages in a user’s pending queue can also be sent by Sendio automatically once per day, usually first thing in the morning. Lastly, SAV messages are actually sent very infrequently by Sendio, and customers quickly realize that the SAV is just one component of a comprehensive Sendio email security solution. In studies that we have conducted, on average less than 5% of all inbound emails into a domain end up with an SAV message being sent.
In practice it is extremely rare for Sendio to send an SAV to a forged sender. Sendio has multiple security layers prior to the Sendio Email Community feature and its associated SAV email. Specifically, Sendio prevents forged senders (also called anti-spoofing) via SPF (Sender Policy Framework ) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) signature checking.
You are protected from such sender forgeries because Sendio has multiple security layers, including Slverlisting, IP reputation, and Anti-spoofing. Sendio’s anti-spoofing feature prevents forged senders via SPF (Sender Policy Framework ) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) signature checking. Administrators also have the option when adding domain-wide or system-wide Contacts to define the Contacts for specific sending IP addresses for even greater security.
Sendio’s default setting is to not send SAVs to bulk mailers because such senders are usually fully automated and therefore will not respond to SAVs. The simple management of Bulk email is one of Sendio’s most significant benefits. We call it our “Train your Inbox” feature. First, bulk email is already pre-sorted into its own category within a user’s pending queue (dedicated web UI per user) for easy access to desired Bulk emails for release to your Inbox. For bulk email senders that you always want to receive, just add them to your Email Community (also called “Contacts”) and all future emails from those bulk senders will be delivered directly to your Inbox. To make things even easier for users, the “Queue Summary” email of pending messages that they receive each day has the “Bulk” email in a separate section from other pending email messages.
Although rarely used, a user also has the option in his or her web login to tell Sendio to auto-forward all bulk email to their inbox and never stop it.
Yes, you are in complete control as an IT Administrator as to which email accounts send SAV auto-replies. For example, you may decide to not use an SAV for your company’s sales@ or purchasing@ inbound email address. In addition IT Administrators can also choose to turn off Contact auto-checking for specific email addresses, and solely rely on Sendio’s other security layers to stop inbound spam, phishing, bulk email, etc.
Sendio has been successfully doing Sender Address Verification for over ten years. It is one of the most effective anti-spam solutions on the market simply because spammers can’t defeat us. Whenever Sendio generates a Sender Address Verification message it creates a one-time “reply-to” email address. When the sender clicks “Reply” when after receiving the SAV message, the one-time email “reply-to” email address is “consumed” which means it will never be used again. The reply-to address will look something like this:
